Practicing up until the last minute

Everything came together at the last minute for a fantastic night at the Cultural Festival on Wednesday night. Waiting patiently in the the Art room for their turn in the limelight, a few students in the Australian group got super nervous, but some extra practicing helped to sooth the nerves... a bit. Well done to all the students, teachers, whanau and staff who participated or supported the event to make it all possible.

How do our drains effect turtles?

Littering is more than just an eye sore, it's killing our marine life. Busy planning their designs for art work that raises awareness on this issue are a group of Room 7 students. Armed with chalk and a passion for their mission to spread the word, their designs soon will be a permantant reminder on the drains around H.I.S to change our ways for the sake of the marine life in the Hauraki Gulf and beyond.

Music notes in extension groups

Choir – We started singing in parts for “Kia Orana”. It was a challenge but fun!

Jazz Group – We have improved on “Doxy”. Some students are learning to improvise this week. It is fantastic to see everyone working hard and developing their musicianship.

Aiming for a life saving composition

Julius, James, Junior, Nikhita, Chao Qi, Georgia, Bahar and Demetrius from Rm 16 are currently learning instruments in order to achieve their goal of creating a musical composition that informs people about how marine life suffers from people’s litter.
